I'm new to AE cs4...and i would like to know how to uprezz to HD when u export from it. I shoot on a dvx100b...but i used to uprezz on export out of premiere by clicking file>media> h.264 and changed some settingngs in there including outputing it to 1280x720 (amoung other things). it would then get the HD treatment of vimeo.

So i chose h.264 and I tried uping the scaling in the render queue options (output module settings) but it didnt allow me to when i tried to render...gave an error.

How is it done from AE?

either do it by

a) making a comp that is your desired size (you could precomp and scale for example)

b) use the render queue (stretch function)

You mentioned you tried (b) , what error message did it give?

A straight upscale will usually give poor results , unless the algorithm uses a good interpolation method (you get aliasing and jaggies). You could use a 3rd party application for this (e.g. instant HD or similar plugins) . Even then, upscaling won't generate any more details

i'll try what u say PDR. i cant remember what exactly the error said...to the effect of it exceeds frame standards. I will check again.

I know it wont generate more details but when i do it from premiere and upload it to vimeo...the quality is def better, sharper and cleaner. I wont be doing that for dvd's or export to tape or anything... just for the net.

i think i may have found the problem. the "lock aspect ratio" was clicked. i unchecked it and it seems to be rendering now.
