How to start fast in hollywood?

I haven't posted on here for a long time, but I echo everyone else's sentiments that if your goal is to be a director, then start learning how to produce a film yourself.

The reason why so many crap films get made and make money are because the people behind them know the business side better than the art side.

Add "producer" to your goal of being a writer, director, editor, cinematographer, kitchen sink, etc.

Not sure what your exact goal is, but I think the best way for you start "fast" is to intern at a production company. There you will learn the development process, script coverage... and gain experience and get hired somewhere. Maybe you can pitch your screenplay to one of the producers after you've gotten "in" with them.

To put it bluntly, sleep with a producer? :P

It all comes down to what you want to do and be. If you want to be average and mediocre that is easy. That is 98% of most everyone and everything. But if you want greatness then that is a whole 'nother ballgame. There is no fast track to greatness. You have to figure out which group you want to be in. The 98% or the 2%. Take the normal path or the harder path. There is more money to be made in the 98%, but this is not about money for me. My goal is to make great films and that is where I am headed. I simply cannot settle for mediocrity. That is too easy. I have set higher standards for myself, but that is me. I will be shooting for greatness until my last breath.

The point is this: Take my story for example. (which you can read more into in my sig.) I wrote for personal pleasure. Then one day i wrote a script, got a agent ,she shopped the script and i received multiple offers. (Significant offers.) I was a stubborn 22 year old and decided to film my script with my own money. Currently i have made the film with my vision and am trying to get distribution and currently no agent and no connection to go to once i finish my new script. I dont regret not taking the money for my script. But take the lesson of knowing that every movie, every script takes a different route. There is no "how to get to hollywood" and especially not fast. Good luck your journey
