how to stab someone on screen

i was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to pull off a good stabbing shot. or knew of any web sites that might have good tips on pulling it off. i need to be able to thrust a sword and spear into someone. any tips are very appreciatted.

i got some ideas, but just wanna know what others can think up that im just not.

Ohh, sword and spears. Knives are a bit easer to pull off because there not that long and you can find retractable blades. I'd shoot it from a side angle back lit, you can have you're actor get stabbed under the arm it will look good if you shoot it kind of low from a few feet away, back lit of corse. Then I'd split the sword blade in half and attach it to his chest and back add a bit of blood and shoot it from any angle you want.

i got a cool retractable blade tai chi sword off epay for $10. the blade colapses into itself to the hilt. its designed to be portable for tai chi practitioners but i found it works great for a sword to the chest , back or gut.

If your up for the the Pre production work of making your own blade, and depending on the size of course. Using plexy two peices of plexy and shaping them up to look like they are share but leaving gaps in it so you can put a small hose up into the plexy, make the hilt just about the same size or as big so it moves fluidly and take the hose and have it hooked to a small bladder (condom+duct tape) make it small enough not to be noticed and place it in the arm pit. So when you thrust the knife sinks into the hilt, and the bladder in your arm pit injects ther tube. Sounds different but I did a scene with a Ice pick not to long ago and it worked out great.
