How to seperate audio feeds in Adobe Premiere 6.0?

Hi There,

I have just started to learn Adobe Premiere 6.0.
While shooting interviews, I connected (2 mics), each mic into the XLR connections, channel one and channel two seperately into my DVX100AE.

Now what I want to know is, when I capture the footage from the camcorder via firewire (IEEE) into my computer, will I be able to capture this AUDIO as two seperate feeds (one for channel one and another for channel 2) or will it come as a single audio file. If it does not come(into my computer) as two seperate audio feeds into my NLE, is there a way to seperate these audio feeds. I wish to delete audio from say channel one and keep the audio from channel two.

Thanks for such a wonderful forum...existing because of wonderful people just like you!

Cheers!

Piece of cake... the good news is that both channels are imported just like a stereo recording. The camera says ch.1 and ch.2 but the NLE sees left and right... As you'll find everywhere you read, audio for video is MONO unless you're talking music or sound/motion effects. That's why Panny calls it ch.1 and ch.2 'cause almost NOBODY considers 'em left and right... but the NLE does.

So in Premiere if you just want what you recorded on ch.1 then "duplicate left" and then that audio track is ONLY the left channel (playing through left and right) with the right channel (ch.2) dropped. If you wanted BOTH channels playing through BOTH left and right then you'd copy the audio track before duplicating left and paste the copied track on a new audio track underneath the other one... then you'd "duplicate left" on one audio track and "duplicate right" on the other... Now both channels are coming through both left and right.

You can also "razor" the audio track and jump back and forth between left and right all on one audio track.
