How to render footage WITH widescreen bars?

I see alot of footage on vimeo where they rendered out with the black widescreen bars and i think it looks nice for a movie trailer. I am shooting with an Af-100 in 1080p using Vegas 10 and was wondering what setting would give me this. Thanks!

You only get the bars if you crop to wider aspect ratio (like 2.40:1).

The trailers you see with the bars are probably movies which have chosen that wider aspect ratio for their entire project, which is a choice for the project as a whole, not just the trailer.

If you are shooting 1080 then you are shooting proper widescreen. The poster above described what you are likely talking about. In vegas you can set your project properties, then conform your footage to that aspect ratio, without warping your footage. Please provide some links so that we can see what you are describing.

Bottom line, you do NOT want to render with black bars. You want to render correctly. Vimeo will 'add bars' if needed for say super widescreen 2.4:1 footage.
