How to remove the FM18 fluid head.

there is a rubber piece under the head at the top of the gear column. (wow this is already sounding dirty lol) Slide the rubber peice down the column and you should see 2 allen bolts. (under the head) get an allen wrench and loosen them (or remove them). Now lock the left and right motion on the head as tight as you can and turn the head counter clockwise. It should come right off. Without those allens loose it wont loosen. You need to tighten the head so it unscrews instead of pans. Hope this helps..i have a slightly different model but same manufacturer and similar design. I just put a manforto head on this big heavy tripod

i got these real light weight manfro pods i ship for rentals. (actually not bad pods, pretty sturdy) I use the Davis because its higher and I can shoot over the audience's heads. Last shoot is dawned on me...why dont i borow the nice manfro head from my rental pod. They are pretty easy to switch, just gotta be careful not to damage the bottom of the head so it continues to grip well.
