How to remove lens smudge on video clip

Hi everyone,
I shot a particular scene without wiping the lens first, and now there are a few visible spots--small but noticeable especially with the camera panning. I'll only be using 7 seconds of it but turns out it'll be the opening shot so it's got to look good. Will I be able to fix it in Photoshop or After Effects?

I'd love to hear your tips and tricks.

Thanks!

I'd use the clone stamp brush in After Effects. For 7 seconds, depending on the shot, you should be able to keyframe out a nice fix.

Without having seen the clip, I'd hazard the guess that it will take less time and effort to re-shoot and you'll be happier with the results. But try a few frames to see how it goes and how much time it takes.

Obviously, if the shot can't be recreated, and you're not willing to kill this baby, you'll need to fix it. Usually, this type of work is time consuming but it depends on a number of factors. Post a few screen grabs.

FCP? What NLE?
IF FCP here's a free scratch and hair removal plugin that I've used to great effect for removing a spec that was on the lens.

It clones an area near the blemish and you control size of the hole you make, feathering, etc and how much you shift the clone image over. Key frameable in FCP.

Haven't gotten my hands on After effects or Photoshop cs5 yet but this seems like it would be something that cs5 would excel in.
