How to reduce movie file size?

Having never used Premiere before, I just installed the CS3 Preview (beta) tonight. I simply captured from a tape, grabbed a clip and exported it as a movie. The clip was only about a minute or so long, but wound up being 300MB. How do I get the size of that exported movie down to a much more reasonable size?

when exporting your final product change to a different file type/compresson, EG: divx for example.. or any compressor and play with the settings till you get desired file size/compression.

EDIT: i find Xvid gives great results, i use it when editing and saving my HDV footage, and the files arnt very big.( i just framesrve from premier pro 2.0 to virtual dub (free software) and save the movie as xvid format from virtual dub ).
