Any tips, suggestions on how to promote my website ?

I've done a few little things, but nothing that really looks like it worked. I'm trying to customize google to where if someone locally wanted a music video, short film, commercial/informercial, etc.... it would pop up first.

Google ranks by cross linking more than anything. Post your site in every directory possible, as well as Google Business. And make sure you have business cards with the URL. Update regularly.

Properly tagging in yur html is the best way for search engine results.
Of course you can always put in your signatures and promote it on your social networking sites as well. Many hosting services have an icon in your cpanel that will let you add your site to search engines.

He's probably talking about meta-tags. It goes in the header. Google it. And notice that Google doesn't care about the meta-tags; only other search engines do. It still matters, but be aware that it won't in any way help your Google ranking. Though Google might use the description you put there.

Oh, and if you're serious about marketing absolutely, without question, have a decently made profile on both Myspace and Facebook for the business, with links to the site and general information. Those are high priority for searches.
