How to place a PSD file over video?

i want to place a PSD over a video. The PS file has a transparent background but when i imported it to Vegas the BG was no longer transparent but white and blocking the video. How do i do this? or what format should the PS file be? Thanks!!

I don't know about vegas, but for premiere when you choose to import, there is prompt to select all layers or individual ones, and I just select the ones I want to bring in.

Hope that helps.....

Most NLE's should be able to import alpha information, which is the transparent part of your PSD you are speaking of. You shouldn't have to use a chroma key or anything like that, it will just reduce the image quality.

I pulled this from a google search:
"In Photoshop CS2 there is an export layers to files script that makes it really fast and easy. In earlier versions of Photoshop or in Photoshop Elements, Paint Shop Pro, Fireworks or... you can open the PSD and save each layer as a separate file.

Then bring those files into Vegas in one shot by selecting all the files in Vegas Explorer, right click and drag onto the timeline then choose Add Across Tracks from the popup window). "

This being said, obviously make sure you are saving out PSD files and retaining the alpha channel : )

Next time you can just fly me out to hawaii and I'll troubleshoot on location for you :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG):Drogar-BigGrin(DBG):Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
