How To Password Protect a webpage

[Jack Daniel Stanley]

How can I make a webpage with passwor that you have to have to logon.

I know how to publish a webpage but not prompt for a password.

thanks and sorry if this is one of those questions that's too vague and you need to know what kindof server I have etc.

don't really know except that i have one site that is a virtual server and one that's ... non virtual I guess?

thanks

Jack - Which web host are you using? If they have cPanel there is a featured called "Password Protect Directories". Also you can use .htaccess (if your server allows it). Below is a site that explains how to create a .htaccess file for protecting your diretory.

Cool just did it.
I had a cpanel, the step I was missing was that I had to make a diretory to put the page in to protect it.

Thanks guys.
