Hy guys, I' shooting a short film with a JCV gy hd200 and a AJA IOHD.
It goes straight from the component to the IOHD and then to a external drive on a macbook pro. No HDV, only Prores HQ. My question is, when I'm done editing my short film, what would be the best way to deliver it without loosing quality ? Lets say I wanna send to film festivals and stuff. What kind of output will not take away quality ? And what about TV? I have to send my short film to a tv station as well, what should I do ? And to blow up to 35mm, just take my hd to the bureau ?

To make a 35mm print you'd want to make an uncompressed QuickTime or an image sequence- depending on what the lab could handle. For festivals it's usually a DVD screener and a digibeta or beta SP tape for the actual exhibition. I know of no festivals that will take an uncompressed or even ProRes quicktime. They care more about story than about compression. :)

Ask the festivals what format they want and give them that.

Ask the TV station or network what format they want and give them that.

Ask the lab what format they want and give them that.

As you can see, the key isn't guessing what people want it's asking them specifically what they want.
