how to make trancslucent fabric for diffusion

hi everyone,im going to photograph a model at the beach,whould you recomend me to use a translucent fabric to diffuse the sunlight,if yes how can i make one,i dont want to get too tecknical just somethin simple.o and if you guys give me a few examples on how to light the model i would really appreciate it,thanks
