How to make image smaller on the screen?

How do you make the footage smaller for the screen? Kinda like when you shrink it so you can show two or more windows of footage at the same time (example: 2 different people talking to each other on the phone). I want to shrink my footage and center it to add some graphics and text around the outside.

Highlight the clip you want to "shrink" on the timeline, go to the effects tab in the preview window, in the motion tab there's parameters you can adjust to scale and position the image where you like it on the screen.

As you make changes in that window you should see the reult in the canvas/timeline monitor window.
