Hey guys

I started learning vegas 5 a few days ago, I think I got the jis of it. Can anyone tell me how to make a blur matte or point me in a certain direction?

thanks

WEll, in vegas, there are many ways to do things. Here are two.

-Cookie cutter (easy way) this is the easy way of doing a matte, but you don't have a lot of control over it. First, click on the clip that you want to apply the matte to, copy and paste it directly above the other clip, and line them up with your timeline marker. Next, apply a blur effect to the top clip to your desired amount. Next, apply the "cookie cutter" effect to the top clip. You can now mess around with the tools in there to get the matte the way you want it.

-Advanced matte control. This is a more advanced matte key, but allows you much more control over you matte. Do the steps that are explained above until after you apply the gausian blur. Next, instead of the cookie cutter effect, go into the pan and crop box. At the bottom you will see a box that says "mask" and is greyed out. Click it, and then you bezeier mask tool comes up. You can now use the tools to draw your mask however you want, and you can even keyframe differences to make the mask move with your project. you can also use the feathering and other controls to make the mask look how you want it.
