Hey,

I need help making a clip look exactly like this. This is a screen grab from a music video I shot last week.

It looks great before I render it..

here is how I got the frame to look like this....

But when I render it out I get this....

My question is....is there a way to achieve the look above (before render) without using the luma and chroma key so I am not dealing with the change in the render?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks,

Kerry

Change the first (luma) key view to "Final" (from "Matte"), that should show you the final result in the Canvas, which should be identical to what the rendered result is. That's because what you are viewing right now is the result of seeing only the matte of the first key, so you need to apply more filters to get the look you are after.

There's a couple of ways of achieving the look you are after. If you have Motion available you can do it in that as well.

Try the first bit of Cools' post.

But can you post a large quality version of a still of the guy dancing on the white? I would like to try something.

that's the highest quality screen grab I could get. Will it not work? Thank you so much for trying.

I tried Cools instructions and yes it turned it to how it looks after rendered. So now I am looking at the Final file. So I still need help trying to get the silhouette look.

I wish there was another filter that I could use to achieve this look. Any suggestions o another method I could try?

Can you post a frame from the original clip of the guy dancing? Without any effects applied, etc.

1. Place clip on V1.
2. Apply Luma Key to it, set View to Final, Key out Brighter and then Copy to RGB, adjust the other two settings till you get the white silhoutte (worked with 0 and 0 for me in my test).
3. Copy the clip to V2 (so now you have 2 identical clips stacked)
4. Change the Luma key for clip on V2 so the "Matte" now says "Copy to Alpha" (instead of "Copy to RGB").
5. Scale the V2 clip to whatever final size you want and apply a Desaturate filter to create the monochrome look (or use whatever you see fit)

That quickly worked for me with the image you posted. You might need to apply an Eight or Four-Point Garbage Matte to clean up the edges a bit.
