How to make 30fps look like 24fps?

Does anyone know how to make video shot at 30fps look as it was shot at 24fps? Are there any combination of FCP plug-ins one can use to fake it?

Thanks for the info.....by the way....dvfilmmaker opens a domain page for sale. Is that the correct link?
Does Joe's filter look good when viewing it on a broadcast monitor?..jaggies? does it look like strobing video?

thanks

I don't know what you mean by broadcast monitor. Do you mean an interlaced scan monitor? Or, a progressive scan monitor with component inputs?

This is kind of a complicated question to answer. Assuming video is shot at 60i and not 30p, then I think you could get pretty good results conforming to 24 frame video.

Jaggies and stobies are different things. Yes, I think there's a good chance it would look jaggy and you would probably notice interlaced scan lines before and after converting to 24 frames.

Strobing with Joe's Filters can be elminated by adjusting the Motion Trail. I can't comment on DV Film since I have never used it.

I've got to recommend my Film Effects to you. It will really do what you want, convert normal NTSC video into 24p on a normal NTSC timeline. It looks great, is easy to use, has lots of funky presets and other filters, and the best darn tech support in the business. Try out the free demo and see for yourself at http://www.nattress.com

I'm sure you will when I get the Magic Scaling application up and running. Once the algorithm is proven in the field and the software selling well, I can consider getting someone to port it to another platform, but at the moment, we're spread thin here as it is, without me thinking about how to code for a computer I don't use.

Make 30fps look like 24fps

Start with Magic Bullet for Editors if you have it. I like the basic preset with diffusion soft portrait or edge noise soften to take the "video" edge off the footage. If more drastic measures are necessary I deinterlace with Joe's Filters Blender to "smooth" it out. I've shoot a bunch of Canon XL1 shizzle and make it look respectable with this process. Happily I finally own the DVX holy grail and don't have to worry about tweaking 30fps footage but i've been there and am happy to pass on some tips. double peace out on the czech tip.

Only issue with MB for E, is that it's super-slow rendering.... And that the editors version doesn't do the 24p stuff that the "big" version was famous for.

That's exactly why I wrote Film Effects for FCP - to do a better 24p effect, and to get faster rendering.
