I have to shoot some cars early next year and not sure how to light them

I was thinking of using something like the Rotolight Anova or Litepanels SOLA 4 or 6?

Has to be LED as a lot of the shooting will be outside.

Thanks

In studio cars are typically shot on specialized stages with giant light banks.

Alternatively there's a company, who name escapes me right now, that builds inflatable half-dome studios out of white plastic. Holes can be cut in the plastic it needed, & lights are typically placed outside so they won't be reflected by the body work.

Outdoors cars are usually shot during the Golder Hours of the morning, & evening, when the sky becomes a giant soft box. In Sunny Old England you might luck out with an overcast day, & have more time shoot.

While these are typical setups, I also worked a Mercedes gig where we shot all day long, & embraced hard light.

If you don't have the budget for renting a Chimera F2 bank your best bet is going to be shooting at sunrise or sunset.
Take lots of duvetyne and stands for controlling reflections.

...Or hope for an overcast day. Clouds make a wonderful silk to shoot shiny objects under.
