How to light with no lights.

In Hawaii you couldnt do an overhead that size without mombos, lines, and guys on the stands at all times. Its always gusty here. A 4x is usually a combo and c-stand.

I'm not Paul, but I would suggest a 6x6 as your first. Canvas grip on eBay has the frame set for $210 and their rags are reasonably priced, but you may be able to find something local. You can then add a second 6x6 to your kit which can be put together to form a 12x12 when needed. I would suggest something a little more heavy duty than C-stands to hold your butterfly, but that's your call. You will also want a few extra sandbags on hand.

All the best!

Dave

Just call Ivan at Canvas grip, drop my name and he will give you a better price than on Ebay.

I will see if the agency will allow me to post a couple of stills.

Also, outside I use a combo with a 4 1/2 head for anything 4X4 and up. A mombo combo for high work, staked with a couple bull pricks.

The reflectors in the background are a little misleading. The 4X4 is for a hard rim. The 12X12 was from a previous shot. We used it to light the front of the house.
