Not so sure how best to describe.

Here is a movie trailer for The Fugitive.

at 0:19~0:20, you see a killer strangling the main character's wife.
I'd like to know how to leave harder and longer afterimage like you see when you shoot fast action in 24fps.
I find this kind of effects done in many movies and would like to know how it's done. I hope you kinda understand what effect I'm referring to.
Is it done by undercranking? fliming in 12fps or sth?
Please could some enlighten me.

Do you mean the streaking/ motion blur? It's achieved by using a longer shutter speed. In this case, it looks like it wasn't filmed higher than 24p, perhaps it was even less, but it has been slowed in post, leaving a stacato effect, but the motion blur is from having a slow shutter speed - try 1/30 or even 1/15 at 24p or 25p and then slow in post to achieve this - then tweak settings until you get what you want.

I hope that helps

this is lower fps and low shutter, probably 12fps and shutter 1/24, its hard to judge on this clip its badly encoded with 2 frames in one.

Shoot in photo mode with a slow shutter. Depending on your camera you can get 5-10 fps in burst mode.
