How to keep your DVX100B XLR covers

My DVX100B came with these nifty covers for the XLR jacks - but no way to secure them.

Quick and easy solution - just take a lanyard from a thumbdrive (the kind that has a small loop of string at the end) - or in my case, a lanyard from a Garmin GPS handheld unit (technically, a 17.5" Lanyard Strap for Garmin GPS Units - MPN: 0130005200 - can be bought but costs $13) - and loop the small string end through one XLR cap's loop hole and then the other. Loop the large strap end of the lanyard through the handhold. Now your XLR covers will hang around.

If you don't have a spare lanyard - may as well buy a thumbdrive to get one - they are cheap enough.

Both of mine are secured to the lens cap lanyard. It's long enough to keep everything together, and short enough to stay out of the way when shooting. Can't loose it if they're tied down. Now if only I could attach my kid to that thing...

Hello All,

I would like to take this opportunity to let everyone here know that we now have good stock of the following parts:

DVX100:
Lens Caps,
XLR Caps,
Lens Hoods (Matte Box Panasonic OEM)
Tripod Mount Hole
AC Adapter cable that slides into the battery slot on the camera and plugs into the 7.9V output on the power supply.

HVX200:
Lens Caps
XLR Caps
Back Panel and Battery case (For "Broken Battery Tab" repairs)
Component D4 Cable (Original Panasonic OEM and a 3rd part 5 Meter version available)
AC Adapter cable that slides into the battery slot on the camera and plugs into the 7.9V output on the power supply.

I am most likely missing something here so if you need something that isn't on the list, please let us know.

Best regards,

I leave them off.
The XLRs on the camera are standard Cannon parts, as used on nearly all broadcast gear. They're fairly well sealed.
Full size cameras don't even come with caps.
When you're doing fast moving stuff, you want the least amount of unnecessary accessories possible.
Just my opinion - feel free to disagree ;)
