how to hook an NTSC monitor to a G4

you need a DV to analog converter in there somewhere. Either a camera or an outboard box. You send the firewire to the converter and use the analog outputs to feed the monitor.

If you have a DV camera, you should be abel to use the camera...however, there are a number of DV/analog converters on the market. I believe pyro, canopus and a few other makers have units out there. I used the Canopus ADC100 (ADV?) for quite some time and liked the quality I got from it.

I dont' have any direct experience with other lines.

A radeon 7000 for Mac with RCA output works on the G4, either AGP or PCI, if you want a more convenient solution than using the camcorder....i've seen them as low as $50 now, but make sure you get the Mac version with the ports you need: RCA, S-video etc.
