how to get this shot? - from Everything Must Go

This screen grab is from the Will Ferrell film, Everything Must Go. I've seen shots like this before in movies but never thought of how to actually get this shot, where the actors are the ones in focus but the shot is kinda wide.

If I wanted to do a shot like this, what lens would I need to use? how would I go about recording audio? and how to light it?

thanks
Mark

This is NOT a wide shot. Just look at the amount of perspective compression that is happening on the truck.

To my eye this looks like a short telephoto lens with the camera positioned far enough away to compose the shot.

OP, to get audio for your shoot you might be able to boom the guy standing. It would probably depend on the wind and other noise, but your boom pole guy/gal would need to get close enough. Perhaps you'll need to frame the shot with less headroom. It could be easier to put a lavalier on him. For the vehicle there should be room for a mic inside it.

In most movies, despite using a boom mic to get the on location dialogue, it was probably ADR'd for the finished film anyways.

EDIT: However, this isn't the audio section, so I have nothing to contribute to this thread regarding cinematography. Sorry.

I don't mean to sound rude, that's not my intention. But have you considered actually taking a camera and a few lenses out and about and just experimenting? Asking such rudimentary questions on a forum isn't going to help you anywhere near as much as figuring this kind of stuff out for yourself. And if you don't have a camera but do have a smartphone, buy an app like artemis for $30 and experiment with all the variables.

85mm or higher, f4 and move back real far till you get the framing you desire.

Audio can be boomed but most likely it would be wireless lav mic since the boom can't get real close without coming into frame. Also probably ADR.
