How to get Smooth Slow Motion

What pulldown settings are you guys using? I couldn't get it to work (but I'm not shooting on a DVX, either)

Waiting for the render to finish as I write this. I had to sneak a peek and it looks really smooth, continuing the render. A few questions while I wait.

It seems it is smoother or works with the shutter speed set to the highest (2000) setting. I tried 60i at 1/120 and that gave me so so results, a little grainy actually and looked more like a regular 60i clip slowed down 50%. What are other settings have you tried? How did you come to find that this combination worked?

Very cool technique thank you. I'm slowing down me with my hair flying all over, though I don't have long hair anymore I figure this will do AND also dropped some nails onto a cement floor.

Remember that slo-mo is only as good as the original footage. Shoot at the fastest shutter speed you can manage. And get the brightest, sharpest, richest image you can. Remember that in slo-mo the NLE has to create non-existant frames. So the sharper your original, the better quality you'll get. That's all I do and I get great slo-mo with FCP. If I know before hand, I just over crank my video speed. There's no better quality slo-mo than that.

No pulldown settings used. No pulldown happening. Just follow the steps in the original post. Can you shoot 60i with the camera you're using?

I can't wait to give this a shot. Thanks for the info.

EDIT: is Cinema Tools a standard feature of FCP 5, or a plug in sort of thing?
