hey guys,
i am an beginner concerning lighting stuff (so this is maybe a stupid question) but i need to know for my next music video how you can get an effect like this...
simply pointing a light towards the camera does not seem to do the trick.

I am not a cinematographer, just a lowly lighting guy. It looks to me like there is a decent HMI behind, maybe a 4k or so witha narrow lens? Plenty of light from the front to pick up the face and all that, to enable them to stop the camera down enough to stop the backlight from blowing things out entirely.
Possible a filter of some kind on the camera to get the linear look from the flare, similar to a star filter, but I don't see any vertical flaring ( if that makes any sense.)
Just my 2 cents worth, hope it helps.

It's the 35mm lens that reacts to frontal lights
This was shot with a 35mm camera (or lens).
It's difficult to obtain it with a videocamera... I saw a plugin that can do the job from BCC

Yeah, that reminds me of an anamorphic lens flare which can also be done with something bright like an HMI and then enhanced through some plugins for sure.

thx to everyone. :dankk2:

so this means when i use my 35mm adapter i only have to point a bright HMI towards the camera to get this effect?! and than some pp to enhance it. o.k.... i am excited to see how it turns out...
