How to fix headphone wires?

My kitten had a feast last night and chewed through my headphone cable (mdr-7506). Inside i see 3 wires - green, red and brown. None of the wires are isolated (makes np sense to me). When i try to connect those wires - nada. Is there some magic trick?

Patryk,

There's no magic. I'm not sure what you mean by isolated - do you mean a shield around the wire? There is no shield on headphones. Just a left, right, and ground. Either way, you should just hook them back up and be back in business. There may be a cutyou're not seeing.

Pictures may help.

The cable on the sony 7506 is nigh on impossible to solder or repair as it is ribbon type.

I would be looking at a new set or replacing the whole cable if you can.

One other thing to consider is the MDR-V6 as they are cheaper that the 7506 but sound the same.

As for the colours I think they are:

Brown: common (sleeve)
Red: right (ring)
Green: left (tip)

As qazwsx stated, the Sony HP cable wires are coated. The coating must be removed prior to soldering... or... get another cable as suggested.
