How to filter construction lights

While saving up to get a better lighting kit, I have a boat load of construction lights, what I am trying to light is green screen but we all know the light is harsh and causes hella shadows:furious3: I know I can use filter paper but it burns right up. Anyone have any recommendations on a better way to filter these constructions lights.

Sure - create a frame that you can put at a distance away from the lights. Use 216 or 251 gel to even out the light. On the rare occasions that we have used those we have gelled them by making the gel arch into a half circle, away from the bulb. I suppose you could also front the front glass with a sanding gun?
Also, try not to put your lights to the side of the green-screen that you are lighting. Remember that side light shows more surface detail. The flatter, the better. You can also try streaming out the wrinkles, if it's a fabric.

Good Luck.

How about shooting the light OPPOSITE the screen onto an arched piece of white foam board? It would be cheap and you'd be getting pretty good fill lighting it'd be more even.

Not ideal, but I know it works. You would just have to watch for the shadow of hte light/stand itself.
