How to export true white?

Hi

I am trying to export this video with seamless white background in it. The problem is that after I export the video, the true white background turns gray. I checked the color chart, and it's (235,235,235). Does anyone know how to export to true white (255,255,255) video?

How are you exporting it, exactly? What format and other settings? How did you get the white background to begin with?

To get "true" white, you would have to create a white color matte with a custom value. But like Cassius said, there's not enough info here for us to get what you're trying to do.

I am using Adobe Premiere 4.1 as the NLE, and export through Media Encoder. The file format is AVCHD, and trying to export to H.264 format.

Yes I did create a matt with custom value of 255,255,255 but yet the result is still 235,235,235.

How are you playing back the file? It could be on a playback end, as Quicktime, along with certain Windows video renderers tend to play video with TV levels set (16-235 luma range).

Quicktime seems to exhibit this problem only with H264 playback, while VMR7 and VMR9 renderers for Windows tend to create this problem as well.
