How to export 16:9 without letterboxes

If you shoot footage in Letterbox, how do you export it so that the letterboxes disappear and it stretches out to 16:9? Do you have to resize the clips manually, or is there a way to automatically make them enlarge to make the letterboxes disappear?
Thanks,
Joel

Change the Project Settings of Vegas to a 16:9 template. Then open the Pan/Crop tool of a video event on the timeline, and choose the 16:9 preset. You'll see the immediate effect in the preview window: the black bars are gone. If you want to copy this setting to all the other events, use the Copy and Paste Event Attributes function. Make sure the other events have no other specific fx-settings, as those will be overwritten by the settings the event has you used to copy them from.
Render the timeline to for instance PAL DV AVI Widescreen of MPEG2 Widescreen, depending of your destination for playback.

You can also just right click on the media and select the "match project aspect ratio" option.

And if you already have your whole project edited and don't want to do it for every clip, ("paste attributes" copies EVERYTHING about the clip) then just nest your project in another instance of Vegas and you only have to pan/crop one event.
