I edit using Edius and encode (transcoding) and author the DVD using Encore CS3.
I record and edit in HD and normally deliver the DVD in SD. The HD to SD down-conversion in Edius is crap, so I output to Encore in HD then use transcoding to get it to SD. The final DVD is a lot better than in Edius.
I have heard that using MRQ (Maximum render Quality) in Encore will do this even better (but will take longer) I can not find a setting to enable in Encore Media encoder. (I know where this is in CS4 )
