how to embed and stream large video....

Hi,
I've been having a heck of a time trying to get a movie file onto a webpage of mine. I got a web host (ipower ....maybe not the best, but a friend of mine was already using it so I knew about it).

and I got enough space for my video, I'm not worried about that. The file is 433MB and 37 minutes and HD (I think...it may not be HD anymore, not sure how that works. I compressed it down from 32GB).

I've seen many people here on DVXuser post links with video - nearly full screen size (or at least not too small) in HD and it plays while loading, or only takes 1 minute or less to load before playing.

yet when I embeded my video (it's quicktime, .mov ) on my page, it works but took about 10 minutes to load before playing.
I talked to tech support and they said to try a windows media or flash file, I did and they took the same length (well, to be fair flash took 6 minutes before playing).

how could I get it to stream or play while loading, like those movies on apple.com/trailers or some that I've seen here on dvxuser in the dvxfests ?

Has anyone uploaded / embeded a quicktime video on their webspace before and had it playback as soon as someone clicks "play" (or even as soon as they go onto the movie's page), instead of having to wait for the whole thing to load first? How did you get that to work?

thanks a bunch in advance.

EDIT >> I thought about putting it up on vimeo then embedding that movie, but when I uploaded to vimeo the file was no longer HD and looked terrible. Unlike the original on my desktop.
If this is a better option (vimeo embed) then does anyone know how to make sure your HD video is uploaded in HD?
This has happened with me before too, uploaded a 477MB file that was shot 1080p, yet it showed up SD.

If you're using quicktime (mov container) you need to select the "prepare for internet streaming - fast start" option when exporting

This moves the moov atom to the beginning of the file and allows it to play immediately

You also have need sufficient bandwidth, otherwise it will stutter. Use a decent CDN (content delivery network) e.g. amazon cloudfront

Thanks for the reply, I did not click the "prepare for internet streaming - fast start" option when exporting. And I'll look into amazon cloudfront if the video stutter's. (I'll try it out first).

Got the video to work and stream instnantly, but one problem: the video seems to be "zoomed in" a bit, cropping some of the top/bottom and sides of the video.
In the html code I found to embed the video, I have the size at exactly what the original file's size was - Ive even read on a site to add 16 points to the hight to give room for the playbar, I tried that too and nothing changed.

anyone know what I should be typing in the code (or what code to use to embed QT .mov video) so it's not slightly cropped?
Thanks

I know you've already spent a lot of time trying to implement the video via Quicktime, but there is a better way to implement it to stream faster, use less bandwith, and be more accurate on more screens:

Forcing your audience to download a Quicktime plugin only limits the amount of people who can view your video. Unless you know your clients are on Mac OS 9, using flash/HTML5 to serve h.264 video will be an easier solution for your viewers to watch on desktop or mobile.
