How to Edit DVX100A with Anamorphic Adapter in Premiere Pro

I am shooting with a DVX-100A with an Anamorphic Adapter.
The mode in my camera is set at Normal Mode (4:3)

I am trying to edit the footage using Adobe Premiere Pro.

I opened a 16:9 project and captured the video. But the resulting video appears as 4:3 and not 16:9.

Could someone tell me the steps to retrieve my footage in 16:9?

You need to go to the "interpret footage" option in Premiere and set it to widescreen for each clip. The footage is not flagged as such coming out of the camera. If you shoot in squeeze mode, for example, the footage is flagged and Premiere knows what to do with it.

Actually, the term is to "Conform" the footage's PAR (pixel aspect ratio). For either squeeze or the anamorphic adapter, you need to set it to a PAR of 1.2. Just right click on any of the clips, select "Interput Footage..." then select the "Conform to:" option and set the PAR to 1.2. I don't believe that Premier is self aware of either squeezed or anamorphic footage as there isn't a "flag" for this in the miniDV stream.

All I know is that when I capture or import squeeze footage no "footage interpreting" needs to be done. Premiere automatically conforms or displays it in the correct aspect ratio - which, of course, has to be done manually when using the adaptor.

When you bring the clips to the timeline, right click and under video options, deselect "maintain aspect ratio" if it is selected. That is how it works with Premiere 6.5, so maybe it has been changed in Pro 1.5

Are you using 1.5 or 1.5.1? I will have to test this out as it seems strange to me. Glad it works for you, I almost always only shoot with the anamorphic adapter, so I will confirm your assertion and see what is happening. Thanks for the infomation, I will dissect the .avi and see if there is a meta tag being set by the camera.

I'm using 1.5 (have no use for HDV plugin right now). Yeah, shoot a little squeeze mode footage and check it out.
