Just bought my first very little camera the canon hf s10 and its a little confusing and i am looking for some help from you professionals.

there are many avchd presets in premiere cs4 which one do i use to edit 1920 * 1080 30p, and what does anamorphic mean.
do i have to remove a pulldown or anything like that.

appreciate any help and sorry for being vague, just a bit lost in this new terminology

Make sure you use the preset marked "AVCHD 1080i30 (60i)" even though it is 30p, canon wraps it in a 60i container. Don't select anamorphic either. This should at least give you a fighting chance to render in the timeline.

Orytek is referring to the widespread reports of difficulty for AVCHD to render in the timeline despite Adobe's claim that CS4 enables native editing. Mac users are better off right now and CS3+Neo Scene works for many.

Question: Are you using a 16 GB card? If so, any problems?

actually have not purchased a card yet just going to use the internal memory for the meantime. but according to the manual any class 4 sd card upto 32 gb should work.

Just put the camera on the 24p preset square pixels, and then go to desktop and change the setting to 29.976.

Hardware wise, you need a 2.5 gig core 2 duo processor or faster, and dedicated graphics card, and 4 gig ram.

I just bought my camera (CANON HF SH10) few days ago and using a friend's Premiere CS4. Like user MARQUES, I am also using the builtin memory and what I am doing is transferring the data to my Mac Book Pro via USB cable. That part is working okay. I am shooting with the following settings:
1920 x 1080 / 24P

In Premiere CS4, I am using the preset AVCHD > 1080p > AVCHD 1080p24
While exporting: I am using the following:
Format: QuickTime
Preset: Custom
Video Codec: HDV 1080p24
Frame Rate: 23.976
Aspect: Square Pixel (1.0)

My question to all you gurus is:
Are those export settings correct?
Feedback please!

Thanks! :Drogar-Smoke(DBG):
