how to do this effect with 3d program and AE

is there a tutorial out there to show how to do the effect seen here at the 3 min mark. I figure it's an effect that will use a program like cinema 4d, blender, maya, 3ds max with AE and/or shake.. would love to see exactly how it's done..

The effect can be achieved using a plugin called blast code. Which will give you that break up you see at exactly 3 minutes. BlastCode.com Amazing program for demolition effects. If that was what you were talking about anyways.

would that be difficult with Shatter?

I would use 3D Studio Max particle flow and a good renderer like v-ray
