Re: How to do Man on Fire Editing.

I havent tried that style of editing yet, but by looking at the movie, I would say use a lot of quick small edits, keep the pacing of the cuts upbeat, maybe add a strobe filter to give it that snappiness. You may have to buy a plugin and play around with the color correction to get a look kinda like that of the movie. They used hand cranked cameras for a lot of those sequences though in that movie.

Re: How to do Man on Fire Editing.

Read up on compositing my friend.  It's funny how film as an industry is copying the music videos they used to make fun of.  MOF was directed by Tony Scott, the younger brother of Ridley (Alien and a bunch of other classics).  Learn After Effects or a similar program and have fun.  A significant portion of "GLADIATOR" was comped in AE & Photoshop when their budget got low to save money.  These desktop tools are truly professional in some ways.  You can do some comping in FCP, but I find comp programs like AE allow me to get what I want 10 times faster for complex stuff.  Although a blown out G5 may change my mind.  I'm on a 1.5 Al for now, previously had a 500dp G4.
