How To delete one audio channel in a stero track?

:-/ Is it possible to delete one channel (left or right) of a
recorded stero audio channel? I can use the slider to elminate the playback of a channel, but when I render the project, won't the final project (multimedia video & audio) include both (left & right) audio channels of each track (3 audio tracks in my project)? I'm using Vegas 4.0 but have purchased the upgrade to Vegas 5.0 which should arrive any day.

Thank you

Right-click on audio clip -- channels -- left only or right only.

I havent tried it, but can't you duplicate the track, choose the left channel only for both, then on one of them inverse the phase to simulate stereo?

Um...wouldn't they then cancel each other?

Your rendered project does not have anything that you can't see or hear during preview.

Yeah, I guess it would cancel out...I know I've heard of it before.

Now I'm curious, though. Sorry if this is off the original topic.

This article discusses simulating stereo from a mono source, not exactly what you're looking for, but maybe it will point you in the right direction:

If you do the right-click->left channel only option on the original and duplicated tracks, could you then pan one hard left and one hard right? Then you could have stereo-like sound from just your one channel.

By your example, you'd just have one big MONO (left channel) coming out both speakers. Now if you eq'd each a bit different and perhaps put a very slight delay on one, it would sound more "stereo-ish".

Yeah. I wonder if it would even be worth the trouble...
