how to delete key frames

Guys, I am so embarrassed cause I know this must be the simplest thing in the world but I can't figure out what I am overlooking... I have put keyframes in a clip on my timeline and have decided I don't want the movement in the shot afterall... how in the world do I delete the keyframes. I put my cursor (which was the shape of a plus sign) over the points and hit delete and nothing happened...

I think you right click on them and choose clear keyframe, or delete, or something along those lines.
 
You should hit "A" so that the arrow is your cursor, then click on a keyfram and pull it up until a trash can icon appears, let go and the keyframe will delete.
