We're all familiar with Vegas's own audio output meter, but how can I add something similar onto a Vegas output screen, i.e. an output meter that boogies along in time with an audio track's volume? I'm not fussy about the appearance of the output meter, although the traditional rising/falling coloured bars would be good. But looks aside, I can't see any effects which can use an audio track's volume as variable input.
The only solution I can think of is to point a video camera at my laptop screen and record while Vegas plays the relevant sounds, but that seems clumsy and inflexible.
I'd prefer to do something within Vegas itself, but alternatively perhaps some third party product which can output to .avi files to then use inside Vegas? Or are there any products which can 'record' part of my laptop screen and create an .avi file?
