How to create a beam or ray of light ?

Also using a hazer would do the same thing except you dont have to wait for it to settle just about 30 minutes depending on the room for it to fill with haze. looks amazing!
 
And the hazer tends to be thinner. However, it does take longer for the room to get up to the right density in the air. When I threw raves, we used hazers because they don't impede vision as much, and for his application, I think that is more important.

You can also get foggers that use dry ice and create low level fog which is also really cool. Uses a different oil bases fog juice though so be careful with it.
 
Hazers are much better for doing light beams than smoke machines. While it can be done with a smoke machine, a hazer will get you shooting quicker and it is far more even. If you look closely at movies, you will notice that they use haze for tons of scenes. BTW, haze doesn't normally work that great close up, it plays far better in wide shots unless you have a light in your shot.
