How to convert P2 Files into quicktime

Hi there,

I'm using FCP 5.0 which is not updatable on my Powerbook and I'm going to buy FCP 6 and a MacBool Pro next year.
Until then I still want to work with my P2 files. Is there any way I could covert these files into quicktime files so I can import them into FCP?

you mean its not updateable, or its non upgradeable?
it should be updateable unless lits illegal, if it's legal then update to the latest version of 5 ...
then scroll down past log and capture and there should be an import panasonic P2 option ...
choose that and selct your options in the pop up window, you have to have the P2 card mounted, or a copy of it somewhere on one of your hard drives

Why don't you keep your P2 files as they are? Both FCP5 and 6 will import them fine, and it's the native format.

No, they won't. Not unless you buy and install RAYLIGHT. P2 MXF files need to be imported.

All you need to do is run the system update to get you to FCP 5.0.4 and QT 7.1.3...that is the first version that accepted P2 files.
