How to control my DOF's look?

Hi Guys,

I have a Nikkor 50mm 1.8 & a 105mm 2.5... I know how to achieve really nice shallow depth of focus, but how do i get a shot where everything is in focus much like shooting wide without my LEX attached?

Regards,

Ben

Stop down the lens, although on an LEX you won't be able to do it past f5.6. That'll lengthen the DOF somewhat. Best way is just to use a lens with shorter focal length.

Take off the adapter. Use a wide converter. 'Everything' will be in focus :)

My response may sound sarcastic, but I'm serious. If you want the visible depth of field that you get without the adapter, then why would you use the adapter for the shot?
Apart from the depth of field characteristics, and possibly 'grain' (focussing screen), what other element do you want to maintain in this shot(s)?

I'm trying to avoid taking the LEX off where i can... I normally have limited time at a shoot and i don't want every shot to look shallow. Plus i wanted to maintain the LEX look while keeping the focus as deep as possible.

Is this possible or do you simply have to remove the LEX for shots like that.

nope, can't have it both ways.

Perhaps the SgPro may have been a better decision for your needs?

Thanks. At least i can plan accordingly now. I've barely had a chance to use my LEX since i got it a few months ago & the SG flip wasn't out then.

For the record the footage i have managed to shoot i've been really happy with. The LEX is an awesome adapter.

Cheers,

Ben
