I have 14 hours of our 24P footage shot on a DVX100a on mini DV tapes and want to start importing them into Final Cut. But the mini DV camera I have has only a USB port and no firewire connector. How do I make the conection to the port to download the footage? Is ther an adaptor? I thought all the new DV cams had firewire but guess not....

Thanks.

Hmm, sounds like you have strange camera with no Firewire.
Make sure it supports actual DV. Small Sony's have MicroDV tapes and records in MPEG, not DV, so editing is problematic.
FCP doesn't support USB as far as I know. You coudl get a capture card and try to do anlog out from camera and then analog input but you lose quality.
Might be worth the $200-400 to get a DV cam that has real firewire (make sure you can return it if it doesn't support reading timecode from your tapes)
