how to capture footage from sony HDV cam??

Do i have to do something special if im capturing footage from that camera to final cut pro?? is there a firewire?? i dont have the camera with me, im trying to help a friend who called me!

Are you trying to capture DV or HDV? Presumably HDV...

First you'll probably need FCP5, I don't think HDV was supported in any prior version. Second, yes there's a firewire port on it. You have to go into the menus and make sure that it's set to output HDV instead of DV.

Then -- well, I don't know what to do next, I've never used FCP. Presumably you can just capture as normal...
