Hi everyone! I'm new to the site since I just recently purchased an HVX200a cam. I must say I am loving every bit of it. I'm fairly amateur when it comes to filmmaking as I am currently starting my second year of Cinematography here in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This being the case, I'm afraid my questions around here will seem just that to most DVXuser.com members, amateurish. My appologies in advance.
Anyway, here's my problem. Obviously, when I bought the HVX200a, I did so with P2 recording in mind, and I love it, but for now, I've only got one 16gig card, and that sort of limits my recording time. In the meantime, I've been using miniDV's to record concerts and the like. The problem is I'm not sure exactly how one captures footage off miniDV's with the HVX200a into Premier CS3...
If I'm not mistaken, you can only capture through firewire. Problem is, my comp doesn't seem to be able to connect to the cam through firewire, let alone start capturing.
I've read Barry Green's book in search for an answer to this, but I couldn't find anything. I very well could have missed it though, and it wouldn't surprise me to find out the book actually covers this sort of problem, since it has practically EVERYTHING you could possibly need to know about the cam. Awesome book!
Hopefully someone here, who isn't too ticked off by my ignorance on the matter can throw me a bone and help me out with this.
Thanks in advance! Love the site by the way
