Please, can anyone tell me how to burn timecode onto my edit for a quicktime export. How do I find the time code?

your help is so appreciated!

Thank you! To export a quicktime w timecode, which should I use, the generator or reader? How do I apply this for a whole movie export than just a clip?

The film is edited in 23.98 for 24p advanced camera. Does that affect which timecode I use for a quicktime export....reader or generator?

Drop the sequence with all the clips into a new sequence... then you have one long clip that you can apply the timecode to. I read up on the differences between generator/ reader some time back, but honestly I can't remember what they are. I use generator though when exporting the movie for sound/score... I just don't remember why :)

I think TC Reader read the existing timecode of the source, that is the one recorded by the camera. You have to use it if you're working with offline file and w.ant to recapture after.

TC generator generate a new time code. Use it for source without existing timecode (like FX or CGI) or if you want a continuous timecode for a source you have already edited.

If you're using FCS2 you can export a low rez vesion of your footage with the timecode burned in without using the FCP timeline.
