How to auto loop an MP4 file?

A client has asked me to provide a video file for stand alone playback on a monitor/ TV had will auto loop.

It doesn't necessarily need to be a MP4 but to provide something that will work, hopefully without a computer.

Help please, thank you.

A video file itself won't loop; you will need some software (running on some hardware) to make that happen. For sure video file plus dumb monitor doesn't work (at all, never mind looping).

If you're really planning on doing this on something like a smart TV, with no computer, then read the TV's manual, to see if there's something you can put on the USB drive (or whatever) to tell it to loop. Maybe a 1% chance there might be something. Or maybe the TV might have a loop feature.

If you're looking to purchase hardware, then a dedicated signage product will probably have a feature for this. E.g.

Otherwise you're looking at playing it on a computer, using a player app with a loop feature -- VLC has this, for example, in the playlist window. Or burn it to DVD, run it on a DVD player, and set it to loop.

HTH...

A simple DVD will autoloop. If you have access to iDVD (no longer included in new Mac OS versions), you can choose the One Step DVD from Movie option that just burns an MP4 with no menu, and it auto loops. I'm not sure if Toast can do this, but anytime you can burn a movie to DVD without a menu, the movie will keep playing.
