How to add watermarks with Final Draft or Acrobat

Is there a way to add a watermark using Final Draft or Acrobat?

Please help, need to send it out now!

Yes. In Acrobat.

Document>Watermark>Add.
Then select whether you want to type in some text to use as the watermark or use a file to be the watermark which can have graphics in it. Specify rotation, opacity, scale, location, and position.

If you are sending it out to an agency, I'd be wary of the watermark. It might make things hard to read. And most readers are just interns or actual readers who get at least 10 feature screenplays per day they need to do coverage on.

Without the watermark, I feel they would be more inclined to push through the script. I know Final Draft puts watermarks on its trial version. And let me tell you - next to impossible to read.

If you are keeping the project super secret and you are putting it out to your AD or talent and want to watermark with a name on the script. Cool. But for an agency or a producer. I'd think twice.

That's just me though.

I am planning on doing just what you mentioned, and add watermarks for the casting, crew etc... just for now anyway until we get a bit closer to production.

I also plan to set a very low opacity.

Thanks.

Nice concept. I did this once with a project I was working on that we wanted to keep pretty secret. Needless to say - it really added to the feel getting a watermarked script with your name on it.

Yea... I can only see it helping with everyone taking it a bit more serious and discouraging them from considering plagiarizing it... also we send a customized cover letter and a script release agreement with it including the WGA registration number.

BTW, Mythbusters RULE! :D

I'm writing up in Final Draft 7 now, and I have Adobe - but I cannot for the life of me see anywhere to Watermark. I found nothing in Documents - is it possible it could be under something else?

FYI Ki-Ki - you need Acrobat Professional, not just the reader to watermark documents.:cheesy:

Or google 'free software to watermark pdf file' (or click here). There are several free utility programs to add a watermark to a pdf. I use Movie Magic which can export as PDF, I assume Final Draft can do the same, then one could just use a utility program to add a watermark.
