How the SGA strike will effect the camera folks

Hi all, I'm curious how members here foresee the strike effecting the camera side of the industry.
I'm particularly interested as I'm making my move down to LA from SF at the end of the month, and curious how it will effect the work scene for camera ops.

Ironicly, I've been making a lot of my business in SF based upon shooting web content. Seeing as that's the nature of the strike, does it seem like any fall out will mainly hit the TV industry, or will the other areas such as cinema, corporate, commercial and web get hit as well?

As much insight into this situation will be much appreciated,

Cheers,

J

Do you mean the ongoing WGA strike? Well it is effecting every asset in the community. If you are a current member of a union it is really hard because of the rules that we have to follow. The strike is hitting the TV industry, as well as any pre-productions films, talk shows, soaps, etc. In fact broadway just went dark this last week. Commercials, non-union shows and music videos will most likely not have any stoppage..But then again everyone else would be trying to switch over during the strike so competition has just magnified intensely. So coming to LA into a hostile atmosphere is something you should really consider before your move.

i kinda thought the same thing about union guys competing for my non union gigs. however, since the strike started i have only landed more gigs than usual. go figure....
