I just made a post comparing the Blackmagic Cinema Camera's sensor size to other cinema formats and FF35mm cameras like the 5D MkII.

A RAW 2.5k camera for $3k is seriously cool but we have to be prepared for the crop factor the small sensor introduces. If you are used to a 20mm on your 5D MkII it will look like a 46mm on the Blackmagic camera.

You will struggle on extreme wides, especially if they stick with the EF mount. The 11-16 tokina will be a hot ticket and there is the EF-s 10-22. I've shot with m4/3 over the past year and have adjusted to it. Actually, i quite like it. Your lens bag is smaller than the lunch moms packed for you. While people will be concerned with the extreme wide, don't forget the extreme plus of the tele. It's a push pull plus negative. Just how you look at it. I sometimes cringe at the overuse of extreme wide shots. I guess I would relate it to the rule of shooting architecture, "Use the longest lens possible". Try it. Live by that rule and see your shots improve just on that quote. So if a FF FOV 24mm shot is not wide enough for you, I think some might be abusing wide angle. Now, if BMD somehow gets a m4/3 mount rocking on this cam, then you have the 7-14 lumix. Yes, it's f/4. But that lens is some of the best wide angles I've seen. It's quite an amazing optic and a fair price. If Lumix ever releases the 12-50 2.8 rumored, then all the better. But don't forget and embrace the telephoto advantage of this sensor size.
 
I actually know quite a few people who were looking forward to the 2/3" Scarlet for that exact reason: an 85mm would look like a 300mm. Great for shooting birds and wildlife.

I would have bought the scarlet 2/3's fixed camera if they delivered. I would have paid $6k for 3k even it it only hit top 60fps.

The crop (and adaption options) was the whole reason I got into the m43 format, a 300 with a good 1.4 TC is the maximum I ever need even for smallish birds. I have a Tokina 11-16 in Nikon mount already so i think the WA end is covered but I'm mostly concerned about the middle range for interviews, I typically use a fast 50 on m43 and I'm a little puzzled with what will work the same magic on the BMCC.
