How strong is the shoe mount?

I made a mic pole that holds the mic about 15" forward of it's normal camera mounted position, which I use for run n' gun interviews when I don't have a helper, which is usually. I've been using it mounted to a mini-rover, but now that I have a DvRigPro I won't be using the mini-rover so I think I'll rig something up to mount the pole to the shoe mount. The camera I use doesn't belong to me, and I don't want to take a chance on damaging it. The pole, mic, and all don't really weigh that much, but better safe than sorry so I thought I'd ask ya'll if you know how strong the thing is.

Re: How strong is the shoe mount?

I agree fully with pookie. Find another way. It wasn't meant to hold something with the weight that far from the mount itself. It was meant for something with it's center of gravity directly above the mount (even then, I wouldn't put anything heavy on it).

Re: How strong is the shoe mount?

You said you have a DvRigPro. Mount your mic or any other Acc. to the DvRigPro.

Beneath the side rail, You can find an insert with a 1/4 inch screw thread, You can move it to any position in any slot on the front or side rails and use this standard thread as the base to any acc.

Re: How strong is the shoe mount?

Danny,

Where do "find an insert with a 1/4 inch screw thread"? Is that somehing you can find at a hardware store or do you get them from you?

Thanks,
Chris

Re: How strong is the shoe mount?

One 1/4 insert is included with every DvRigPro. Extra inserts can be ordered from DvRigPro dealers. Cost 2$.

Danny.

Re: How strong is the shoe mount?

Danny,

I bought my DVRig from B@H Photo and I don't think it came with a 1/4 insert. What exactly does it look like and does come seperatly in the box or does it come attached to the rig?

Thanks,
Chris

Re: How strong is the shoe mount?

Look Beneath the side bar, You will find an Aluminium insert
with a small black Allen screw in it. the screw is just holding
the insert from sliding free in the slot.

You can remove any of the square black end caps and place
the insert anywhere you want.

Mail me personally and I will send you a photo.
